Until Tomorrow, The Whole World is My Home

Go on then, name that tune!

As David has already posted, tomorrow we auction the place we’ve called home for over 3 years; in fact it’s the longest we’ve lived anywhere since we got married, so it’s a pretty special place.  Not least, it’s the first place that we’ve called OURS – we’ve been able to paint the walls, change the lights, put black sparkly flooring in the kitchen…instead of putting up with the glorious oyster lights, vertical blinds and cream walls of rental properties.

Tomorrow, we return to the land of looking for a rental home.  The emotions are a bit all over the place – ok, mine are, David is a sea of calm as usual.  Maybe it’s a woman thing, or maybe it’s because I spend way more time here, enjoying the setting sun in the west, and the leafy patterns that the trees throw on the walls.

We don’t know where we’re going to live, and for someone like me who tries to have her route planned when she ventures out in the car, that’s a challenge.  So why are we doing it?  Why sell the place we have enjoyed so much?

Because we were told to.  God told us to.  That may sound a bit strange to some of you, but some months ago, He reminded us (via my lovely husband) that He’d given us this place to enjoy for a time, and now was the time to move on.  Trust me, we’re both stubborn individuals, and for a few months, we fought it, and things just didn’t get any better – we were unhappy, disjointed, financially stretched, at an empasse.  When we finally surrendered our desires, the path immediately became smoother, and the weight has lifted.

We are going to miss here, but we have to step out, expect the unexpected.  If I’m honest, I’m not totally overjoyed to be renting again, but the freedom it gives us is immense – the ability to give more, to be more generous and flexible, and we have the added bonus of trying out living in a house for a while.

So, tomorrow will be an interesting day.  If you read this blog, we’d really appreciate your prayers for:

  • peace of mind and calm nerves. That we’ll get a good sleep tonight.
  • that the homeliness and comfort of our place will be attractive to buyers.
  • that the right buyer who will appreciate our home will be successful.
  • that we will have a great outcome, above and beyond what we can hope for.
  • that the perfect rental will turn up.
  • that God will be glorified in all of it.

Think that’s everything for now.  Thanks, fellow numptards.
